While Henry Tudor did defeat Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth field to become king Henry VII, King Richard wasn't Richard of York he was Richard of Gloucester. Henry Tudor united the houses of Lancaster and York by marrying the daughter of Edward IV's daughter Elizabeth of York thus ending the Wars of the Roses.

King Richard III was killed in battle at Bosworth by French mercenaries in the pay of the Welsh usurper Henry Tudor. Henry was taking cover behind them as Richard with his Honour Guard attacked him in a cavalry charge. Richard got close enough to Henry to kill his Standard Bearer, but was then pulled from his horse by Tudor infantry and butchered. King Richard was the last English Monarch to be killed in battle.
Henry then declared himself King Henry VII. Having usurped the true King, Henry then married Elizabeth of York in a bid to make his reign seem more legitimate. Elizabeth was the daughter of King Edward IV.
