What exactly was WW2 and the holocaust about?

From what i understand, there was a war going on against England, then Japan in Germany where Hitler was the dictator. They began losing against England and on account of that and Hitler's personal beliefs about Jewish people, the holocaust began. He gathered them by groups and suffocated them in gas chambers. The ones who had not been captured lived in the ghettos of Germany until the Nazis came for them. The Nazis were like law enforcement and even had a sign to represent all who were not Jewish and had blonde hair and blue eyes. Now I don't know any of this for sure so i could be totally wrong about everything.

So i'm welcoming all corrections. I just want to know what happened and why.

"What exactly was WW2"

Per Mien Kampf, speeches made by Hitler, generalplan ost, and the orders issued to the troops, the war was gaining living space in the east so that Germany could be a major power and self sufficient and so that "Jewish-Bolshevism" aka the Soviet Union could be defeated and destroyed.

"holocaust about"

The systematic destruction of the Jewish people. The persecution of the Jewish people started as soon as the Nazis came to power, and the murder started with death squads following the regular army into Poland. When the German war machine rolled across the Soviet border, in 1941, German was at that time "losing against England". Per Poland, following the regular army were death squads that killed hundreds of thousands of Jews. This was the start of the Holocaust, the gas chambers were the Final Solution to the Jewish Question. That saw German transport Jews they had control over to death camps, and co-operating with their Allies across Europe to have them round up and transport Jews to the Polish death camps.

"He gathered them by groups and suffocated them in gas chambers."

As noted above, the killing started via open air shootings. Trucks and mobile gas chambers were then experimented with until the gas chambers in dedicated death camps were established.

"lived in the ghettos of Germany"

It depends were the Jews came from. For example, numerous ghettos were established in Poland. The most famous, was the Warsaw Ghetto that saw an uprising and was eventually "liquidated".

"had blonde hair and blue eyes"

Complete myth. The Nazi believes were not focused on hair and eye colour, rather heritage and blood.

I will focus on the Holocaust part, if you don't mind: The Holocaust was a well-planned, brutal extermination of the Jewish population in Europe (and in other countries under Nazi occupation). During the different stages of the Holocaust, approximately 6 million Jews found their death in terrible ways such as: massive shootings, trucks that gassed the Jews sitting inside it and the most horrible: Gas chambers, disguised as showers, were the most efficient way of killing the Jews. One must remember that beside the 6 million, some 5 million gays, Gypsies, metally ill, Jehovah's witnesses, crippled and political opponents were also killed. Also, many Jews died because of disease and hunger while they were held in concentration camps and extermination camps, and in the ghettos. I hope my answer helped you. Please keep researching the issue, there is not enough words to describe and explain what kind of hell people went through during those years.

Germany was defeated badly in world war 1. Economic times were bad all over the world in the decades after that, and they were especially bad in germany because they'd lost the war. Germany had also been obligated to make heavy concessions following world war 1.

There were a lot of war veterans in germany who were extremely unhappy about the situation, and hitler was one of them. They organized into street gangs and eventually into a political party, and hitler eventually took control of the whole thing. They grew in power mainly because the times were so hard, and a lot of people in germany were willing to listen to such a message in those times.

The anti semitism wasn't something they invented, there had been anti semitism, all over europe, for centuries. But the nazis made it a cornerstone of their ideology, and with times being what they were it increased their popularity. The majority did not mind having such a scapegoat to vent about. Confiscating jewish property was a fast way to raise cash so it served a couple purposes.

The german nation still had a strong industrial base, and they produced a lot of good engineers, and Hitler was good at recruiting new soldiers. He was able to build a world class army fairly quickly therefore, and he enjoyed a lot of complete victories over the nations around him, for a while, because the rest of the world was very reluctant to start another war like world war one.

Hitler eventually just pushed his luck too far though. He probably thought he could continue rolling over the rest of the world indefinitely. But the rest of the world eventually roused itself and did what was required about him. Russia in particular one country Hitler probably wished he hadn't invaded, towards the end.

truly, it grow to be Hitler's objective to wipe out the Jewish people. sure is did ensue because the Jewish people suggested. there is documented evidence in images and written record of the atrocities commited by the Nazi party. Jews were stripped of their wealth, residing house, dignity and lives. A Holocaust museum opened in Washington DC, i experience at the moment. once you've the prospect to bypass sometime, it may be nicely worth it. also, the camps the position they were held also nonetheless stand and excursions are accessible.

Adolf Hitler had a strong hatred for Jews, he suffered a lot in his life, and whenever he suffered there was always a Jew responsible. He grew very anti-Semite.

Anyways, years later Hitler now being a member of the Nazi Party, he was made fuher of Germany. Which means he was now in charge of Germany, could whatever he wanted for as long as he wanted. His hate for the Jews started the Holocaust, the Holocaust started in 1933. If you've ever read Anne Frank, she was raised in Germany, but escaped to the Netherlands when she was a few years old to avoid going into concentration camps.

Adolf Hitler had a plan to build an empire and kill all possible Jews in it.

How WWII started.

Hitler wanted to invade Poland. Britain said that if he was to invade Poland, they would declare war. In 1939, Hitler ignored the threats and invaded. WWII has now started.

Hitler also invaded France and won the battle in 1940. He attempted to invade the UK and Russia (then known as Soviet Union) but failed.

In 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbour, attacking American ships and killing American soldiers. America then joined the war.

In 1944, plans made by British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, invaded France which was occupied by Nazi Germany. The British, American and remaining French army that escaped to Britain took part in the battle. This battle was called D-Day. If you've seen Saving Private Ryan, the battle scene on the beach was meant to be D-Day. WWII veterans described the battle to be very accurate to the real battle.

Anyhow, the Germans lost D-Day, and the Brits, French and USA walked into France. They went through many fights in France as they attempted to walk into Germany and stop Hitler.

Meanwhile the Soviet Union was taking out the Polish side of Nazi Germany, they walked in and took over all the concentration camps owned by Germany, freeing the Jewish slaves. On the other side, the British and Americans were doing the same. The Russians were the first to walk into Berlin where Hitler shot himself, not wanting to give in to the Russians, his body was taken outside and burned while Russians were literally shooting only 500m away at other German soldiers.

Hitler shooting himself, the Nazi's then surrendered.

Meanwhile, America was at the same time also fighting with Japan, they dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, threatening to drop another one on Tokyo the capital city. The Japanese surrender, the war ended on September 2nd 1945.

It started with German Dictator Adolf Hilter. He supported the Nazis, who believed that the German race was the most superior of all races on Earth, and that the Jews were the most inferior. So he decided to kill them all by placing them in concentration camps. And then, he declared war on the rest of Europe to conquer and enslave all non German people and kill the Jews. He gained support from Italy and a few other small countries joined him.

Japan later joined the Germans and tried to conquer southeast Asia and the Pacific. After Japan attacked the US in Hawaii, the US declared war on Japan. After that, the Germans declared war on the United States. And the US beat them both.

Do you go to school? Does your school teach history? Then for goodness sake pay attention in class, and, much more importantly, go to the library and READ about it.

I gather you are a child living in the USA, but even so, although the education system in that country is pretty awful, you should be better informed. Your teachers are very much to blame if you are being left in a state of such ignorance. Maybe your parents could complain to the school head about the poor education you are getting - something needs to be done about it.

WWII started in Europe as a continental territorial dispute. In the Treaty of Versailles (1919) that ended WWI, Germany and Austria-Hungary were stripped of much of their territory to weaken them and create a number of small new nation-states for Eastern European ethnic groups (such as Poles and Slavs). Some of this territory had been conquered (from Russia) during the war, but much of its was traditionally German territory with sizable German-speaking populations. Many people in Germany felt their country was unduly punished by Britain and France in the treaty ending WWI and wanted to reclaim lost territory. This widespread anger helped attract a following for Germany's Nazi party and Hitler, who came to power through appointment after a divided election but quickly seized dictatorial control over the country.

Hitler's actions most popular with the Germans was to pressure Britain and France to allow Germany to retake territories lost after WWI. Germany absorbed Austria with little opposition, and Hitler blustered France and Britain into doing nothing when he invaded not just German-speaking areas of Czechoslovakia but the rest of the country too. A general war broke out in September 1939 when Hitler ordered the invasion of Poland, which Britain and France had pledged to protect. However, the Soviet Union (Russia) signed a pact with Nazi Germany not to fight each other but instead also to invade Poland. Britain and France were powerless to protect Poland being attacked on two fronts, but they declared war on Germany. After quickly defeating France in 1940, Hitler ordered the invasion of the Soviet Union (despite their signed pact) in 1941.

Japan and Nazi Germany formally had been allies since 1940 (along with Italy), but they did not cooperate very closely. While Germany was taking territory in Europe, Japan invaded China and was conquering an empire in Eastern Asia. The United States, which had allies and economic interests in the Pacific region, eventually organized a trade embargo against Japan to oppose its invasions. When Japan attacked the United States in December 1941, Hitler chose also to declare war on the U.S. This gave the American president Franklin Roosevelt the opportunity to get the U.S. Congress to declare war on Germany as well as Japan. The European war then became a true World War also being fought in the Pacific.

The Holocaust happened because of the Nazis' racial ideology. Nazi leaders blamed an international conspiracy of Jews for what happened to Germany at the end of WWI. Using a racist theory of 'racial hygiene' (purity), Nazis claimed that Jews were polluting the German gene pool. Nazi extremists believed that white-skinned, blue-eyed Europeans were descendants of an original master race called Aryans, but over the centuries their gene pool had been weakened through intermixing with lesser races. Such theories were not unique just to Germany (they had been popular in many British and American universities from the 1870s-1920s), but the Nazis took them to a violent extreme and called for the purging of undesirable genetic elements, especially but not exclusively Jews, from the European population. Under Nazi rule, Jews were legally required to live only in restricted zones ("ghettos") and to wear on their clothing a symbol (usually a cloth 'star of David') identifying them as Jews.

For several years the Nazis had imposed discrimination, brutality, and eventually imprisonment in camps on Jews, first in Germany and then in conquered territories. In 1941 death squads were dispatched (both from Nazi military units as well as some regular German army units) to execute Jews captured in Eastern Europe. Then in 1942 the Nazi leadership undertook what they called the "Final Solution" to the Jewish matter -- a secret wartime policy of turning prison camps (mostly in Eastern Europe) into death camps to carry out the mass murder of millions of people (mostly Jews but also other groups they found undesirable). Gas chambers and huge incinerators were built in these camps to kill and dispose of corpses on a factory-like industrial scale. The goal of this policy was to eliminate Jews from the European population in order to make it possible to re-breed the Aryan master race in which Nazi extremists believed.

The death camps were kept running up until the final days of the war in Europe in the spring of 1945, even though Germany's war effort was in desperate need of resources (it is estimated that something like 10% of German resources were diverted to maintaining the Final Solution).
