Lord Byron...its unanimous!...he not only died as a result but was involved in its leadership, making military decisions and even paying troops with his own funds. (He had personally known the Muslim despot, Ali Pasha, in Albania earlier.)

He contracted a fever, it was aggravated by the bleeding therapy insisted on by his doctors, and he died on April 19th, 1824 and became a Greek national hero.

There are few better examples of a Romantic author...read his Childe Harold...few better examples of a romantic.

He probably died disillusioned (I hope not), his own Greek troops (Suliotes) betrayed the Greek cause.
