King Tut ruled too briefly for a proper evaluation of his rule.
(famous only 'cause his tomb intact.)
Who was the greatest? My opinion was that it was Iknaton, who tried to make the Egyptian religion monotheistic - centred on the rule of only one God....because he had the most long-term impact on the world. Monotheism was a relatively new concept in the West - He may have been the inventor of it. His rule had much influence on the development of Judaism, which was once a pluralist (opposite to monotheist) religion.
Hatshupset may be the greatest, because she was the first great female ruler.
Who would the average Egyptian pick? Probably Menes, their very first ruler. Maybe Ahmose I, who liberated their country from foreign rule.
Ramses II is also a good pick, because he built more than any other pharo (Though some pharos 'cheated' here by
chipping off the names of prior pharos, and chiseling on
their own) , and was very successful in military affairs.
