History is made every day. There are some events in history we will never forget. They’ve impacted our own personal or collective lives. So which historic event could you change? WWII, JFK, etc..

I'd make it so Wales won the war against England.

If Wales won, the world may have been a better place today:

1) Their would be less wars - The English throughout time have been known as racist, egomaniacs, who suffer from kleptomania.

2) Their would be less racism and aggression - Read the above.

3) Their would be more culture in the world - When England invaded it is known that they killed of that nations culture and forced their own upon them.

Then of course you have the unforeseen consequences like what may have happened if there was less wars, would we even have guns, or the bombs? What would've happened if England never invaded India? What would have happened if England never went to America? What would have happened if English wasn't the 3rd most spoken language?

Just to be clear I do not wish to offend any English here, I only despise what the country has done in the past. The comments don't apply to all Englishmen but are a true representation of "known" people from your past culture.

The Selfless Answer: Preventing the assassination of Robert Kennedy.

Had he won, there is no doubt in my mind that this world would be a very different place. Nixon would have never gone to office, social issues would be decades ahead of what they are now, and foreign policy/foreign relations would be different. I like to think he would have served two terms, Reagan would have never been positioned to get the nomination after these two long terms, the Bush family would have never gained momentum without Reagan, and this butterfly effect would bring someone completely different from Bill Clinton & Obama. Maybe these alternate reality Presidents would have never given weapons to rebels or would have got Osama Bin Laden before he did anything drastic. Maybe we wouldn't have a TSA, Isis beheading people, or a neglected Africa where diseases run wild and spread.

Selfish choices:

- Would have gotten my degree 3 years ago instead of taking a break from college

- Would have taken better care of my teeth

- Wouldn't have let the girl I love slipped away.

I will change World!

The World of today is very cruel? Last time it was 5yrs April Jones, this time it's 9yrs oldXimena Meza -was playing with her friends in front of her apartment complex on West Greenacre Avenue when several shots rang out. Police is asking the public if they know the gunman.

I just think there should be a WWIII instead. The evil is too much to even event new Things, lets fix old ones and live i harmony-->the song by a Group of singers titled "heal the World, make it a better place..."

I would have a squad go back in time and end the evolutionary chain at the apes we evolved from. Humans are the worst thing to happen to earth, I mean, space is polluted with satellites, the atmosphere is polluted, the water is polluted, deforestation, global warming, animals going extinct and endangered by poaching and overfishing, earth's natural resources are almost gone, and humans are responsible. If humans hadn't come into being, earth would be natural and as it should be. No idea how to accomplish this exactly without creating time-travel paradoxes, but it's the most selfless answer I can think of.

Different outcome to the Battle of Bosworth. No Tudor dynasty so no Henry VIII murdering over 50,000 of his own people and a couple of wives. King Richard being known as a good king,( despite a dodgy start to his reign) who made good laws for the common folk (and he did--even his enemies agreed on that) and not a Shakespearean caricature. Catholicism may or may not have lasted in England;Richard owned a bible in English so may well have considered changes but maybe without the extreme sacking and looting of the Tudors, which was all for Henry's coffers. Richard was set to marry Juana of Portugal (of Lancastrian descent) , so the white rose and red would have been joined just as Henry VII did by marrying Elizabeth of York, so the Wars of the Roses would have ended. The Plantagenets were popular in Ireland and under Richard's father may even have been moving toward home-rule; if that had continued and there been no violent Reformation and its aftermath, maybe years of trouble in Ireland would have been averted.

I would go back and meet myself as a kid and convince myself that I was not who I thought I was. People told me I couldn't do things because I was just a kid and I let it hold me back. I had a third grade reading level in kindergarten, but people told me a lot of books were too big for me and I listened. I'd take away those limitations I believed I had and open myself to be able to do what I wanted to do. If I'd done what I wanted to do, my personal world and that of my whole family would be very different right now. I could have written books, created inventions, and prevented a lot of the bad stuff that's happened to those I love by being able to help them where I haven't been able to... If only I'd believed I could....

Do the kids you know a favor-- really get to know them and what they are truly capable of and help them know what they can do. Support their dreams and help them flourish. Trust me, it will make the whole world a better place.

Such an interesting question. Have you read Stephen King's novel "11/22/63"? A man goes back in time to stop the death of Kennedy but read this book to see what happens and why.

Its a good thing we can't change things as some people would use it only to benefit themselves. A gentler, peaceful world with tolerance for every person would be my wish.

I would assassinate Mohammad. No Islamic religion. Ever. The Byzantine Romans never face that threat, and North Africa remains in the Greek sphere. Various forms of Christianity maintain hold on Asia Minor, the Near East, and North Africa, and spread into Arabia, Africa's eastern coast, and far into Persia and India. Western European states rebuild from the collapse of the Roman Empire via alliances with a powerful Byzantine East, and the Great Schism might never happen, also possibly preventing the Protestant revolt. All because one man, one delusional man who believed he was hand-picked by his god to spread a religion of violence and hatred throughout the world, was silenced before the cancer could ever form.

Religion, a very useless thing that causes pain and suffering to many all through human history. Wars are fought in the name of some loon deity to which people create atrocities that are vulgar and unjustified. Or the brainwashing, people who follow blindly to the words of some fictionalized material not fit to line the cage of some animal. Religion is for the weak hearted, for those who don't have the will to make their lives how they see fit. I respect people's opinions on this subject, here's mine. Be Well and Boo Hoo to those who hate what I wrote.

Nothing, because if bad things didn't happen, we wouldn't know how to prevent them. Also, I don't know if I believe this or not, but what if the theory that if one thing happened then there would be one outcome, but if another happened, there would be a different outcome.

Ex. Lets say I want to buy ice cream. There are two flavors I want, vanilla and chocolate. If I chose vanilla, I would earn a million dollars, and if I chose chocolate, I would fall into a hole. But I wouldn't know those would happen.

I would change the fact that Adam ate the forbidden fruit and sinned against God. It put the whole human race in a state of sin ... we're born with it and God imputes it to our accounts. That's why Jesus left His home in Paradise and perfect harmony with the Father, and Holy Spirit to come and take on human flesh so He could pay the penalty for our sins in His own body and satisfy God's wrath.

We could have been living in Utopia until someone disobeyed God and ate of the forbidden fruit.

Perhaps I would change how the European nations would act on discovering America. And not letting them wipe out the populations of native tribes directly and indirectly.

I will maintain the life of Roman Empire way back then no matter what you color is, they still accept you in one historical account white, black, brown and yellow men are equal in Romans, plus there would be no home for the old people where relative dump their old ones to these institution, but rather it is enforce in the roman law that family should take care of the child, also there is a free bath, water and utilities throughout the empire, the Romans made a stable Government and economy, and there is one language in the continent of N. Africa, Europe and Middle East. it sounds great.

It would be media.. it wasnt that i dont like media. But the influence of it. If only they can use media for preserving the nature instead life wasnt as negative as it been. Today, 70% over were engage with social network. But this generation, all i can find are gossip, war, crime, etc.. im just 24 yo. Im not to old to be judged as a classic woman, comparing now than before. Good thing i like about media is that the founders were genius to make everyday life is easier... but...making negative things looks possitive are not... MeDIA influence such as making NEGATIVE BEHAVIOUR COOL OR BEAUTIFUL. most cases like Someone will have sex on the street or have sex with four or 5 men, even with animals..this made rape and death case higher because of sex. Sex purpose is todevelop character, relationship and family not the other way around

Drugs, too many artist show that being high is cool..then they will never care because they feel possitive already and then addiction will destroy their people around them even their life..

GOSsip,..like perfection. Most girl cases were beauty, mind and body. Nowaday it was just use your mind to make your face and beautiful and if you have money ,,great! Surgey,,u dont have to waste excercise, eat healthy. Etc.,Most girls cases are like this. Especially koreans. But who can blame them? Media already set a perfect guy/girls image.. because they think only Beautiful face and body is their only thing to be highly respected or acceptable in the society evethough side effect may life threatening..

European's attitudes about other peoples, when they were "discovering" Africa and America.

Both Africans and Native Americans had strong cultures that were all but destroyed by money-hungry profiteers. The people were exploited, and their lands, with consequences lasting until today.

I cannot imagine a world where Europeans, Africans and Native Americans are equally as prosperous. Who knows what we, as humans, could have achieved?

What a beautiful world that could have been.

So many things I would change. For my self I would change the death of my sister who was killed by a drunk

driver. But for humanity I would change the Trail of Tears. Those people had no choice and sure did not deserve what happened to them . As for wars, Civil War.. that was planned and plotted. It still was a horrendous think but there could have been a choice if men would have taken it instead of being war mongers.

Have the British negotiate with Americans to end the American Revolution, with Americans enjoying the rights of Britons and remaining in the British Empire.

Likely outcomes ...

* anti-slavery factions in both countries using their combined clout to phase out slavery without a war

* less fear of foreign domination - especially threat from Spain - slowing down western expansion, meaning less violence toward native tribes

* support from Americans increasing British security, making aggression in Europe less likely

In my personal history... I wished I didn't get depressed and got a nervous breakdown. Harsh reality that I had to content with until now. I wish I'd just lived a perfectly normal life! I wish that at my age...I'm thin(right weight), going out with my friends, had a perfect family life including my relationships with my sister and her family...I wish I have a boyfriend....that I am just another person...but I can't......how I wish I now have settled with a familiy on my own....that a perfect person have already won my heart.....

on world history...i wish there are no more holy wars like jihad and suicide bombing stories. That nations are perfectly in harmony with each other!

Honestly I would change nothing. Say someone went back in time to say 1914 during WWI and shot Hitler and killed him, well then yes WWII would have never happened, but all the progressions in industry would also be changed. Next thing you know in your original time Russia could be in control of the entire globe because they overthrew all other governments. You never know, changing one small thing could literally change everything.

No WW1 - apart from preventing the pointless slaughter of millions - would mean no WW2,no Hitler and the Nazis,no Holocaust,no nukes,no Bolshevik Revolution,so no Communist countries,no Stalin,no Cold War,no US interference in the affairs of other countries post 1945.

What if questions do not make sense. What is the point to them?

Useless information is cluttering the mind. At some time in life we all wish we had done things differently, but who can go back and change it. No one. Also people do not listen to people with experience; they must experience things for themselves which null and voids advice.

I would prevent the rise of monotheism. Judiasm gave rise to Chrisianity and Islam, and have been sources of justified inhumanity for millennia. We would not have had the dark ages, witch hunts, african slavery, genocides, inequality of rights as we have today, fundamentalists trying to infect our educational system with their beliefs, and I could go on. As much as I would love to go back in time and change something, I think it would be a bad idea. Changing the past could have consequences that could always make matters worse. For example. If I went back in time and called in a bomb threat that shut down airlines long enough to prevent the towers from going down, the next time an explosion goes off its a dirty bomb in Los Angeles. Or I try to kill bin Laden when he is still a child and the murder inspires someone to eventually mastermind a dirty bomb attack on Washington while the President makes the State of the Union Address.

Not to mention things like Radar, The Internet, and the helicopter have all had dubious origins while dynamite and the airplane have been used for the less than peaceful intentions they were invented for.

The point is in the great scheme of things we never know how our actions or inactions influence the course of events. We are better off learning from our mistakes than desiring to undo them.

If I could change one thing in history? I would ask that nothing be changed. We all are who we are at this moment because everything happened the way that it did. If I changed those events then every single person who is reading this right now probably wouldn't be because their life would be going down a different path. Your mom might not be your mom, you might not be watching that beautiful child growing up in front of you, or depending on the event I decided to change...you may never have even been born, or maybe you would be that child with nothing to eat at night before going to sleep only because someone chose to change history. I am content that God knows what he's doing even if sometimes we don't understand it. Everything happens for a reason, and was meant to happen so that you and I could become who we were suppose to be today. Although it was hard growing up and is still hard...I'm ok with it. You can't change the past but you can learn from it so you don't have to keep repeating it. There is no future in the past, and life has no remote, if you don't like where your present life is going...well then you have to get up and change it NOW.

I would save President Garfield's life by putting him on the floor when they brought (the very first!) metal detector to hunt for the bullet in his back. They did not find the bullet because the mattress he was on was made of metal coils. And the knuckleheads in the room did not think about the coils setting of the detector!!! And so the poor man died from a severe infection several months after being shot. Since this was less than a year after he was elected, there is no way it can be known just what sort of president he would have been. (I think he would have done a good job, btw)

The Civil War. Have the Confederacy do things differently so they would win the war. That would take out Obama, Bush, Clinton, and the others who have worked to RUIN the US. It would also give us a serious chance at fixing our racial issues, remembering what Freedom was, and so many other things.

But, I think just going back to WWII would help. I don't mind helping the Jews, but I think Israel was a huge mistake since it made a state of almost constant war between the Jews and Muslims. Not letting the Nazis into the US, forming the CIA, and a lot of other mistakes that we made to lead to where we're at today. And, I would make sure that when Bush Sr. was shot down in the Pacific, there were no ships to save his life so there were be no Bush Jr. to start the war in Iraq, have 9/11, and so on.

Of course, the entirely selfish me would go back further. To a time when I could stop the rape of America and the genocide of the Native American Indians. Maybe the Crusades, saving as many as possible there and not letting the Church get the power that it had to kill millions in the name of G-d.

My answer will be anti-semitic so feel free to banish it. I would NOT change the fact that the Holocaust happened. I believe that if conspiracy theories were and are true, then a very very important battle was won when the Jews were killed. Just like conspiracies may be true today, imagine them 10 times greater, and real, a century ago. The conspiracy of Jewish people was a real thing and was very known and the Germans solved it, at least in Europe. Sure, the Jews defeated Germany, sure they exaggerated the number of victims, sure they demanded reparations, but the fact remains: the Holocaust happened, a great battle against all kinds of conspirators (Jewish, Vatican Christians, Mormons, Mafia, Islamic extremists, Communists) was won and now the world is a better place. It doesn't seem like it because the Jews wanna make us believe that the world was perfect then (and stupid crazy Nazis started **** out of nothing), but thrust me when I tell you, the world is a far safer place with Jews ranks diminished in Europe. I welcome the freedoms and resources that we enjoy in Europe and I want to thank everyone who was involved in the Holocaust and in bringing down conspirators all around the world, any time in history. Thank you for making my life better and for making the world a better place for a long time to come!

The decision in the early 4th. Century taken by the Emperor Constantine to make the Athanasian version of Christianity the official religion of the Empire, and to authorize his “Roman Catholic Church” to enforce it upon all.

The harm that this has done over the centuries, and the human suffering caused world-wide in “wars of religion”, and by persecutions, is quite incalculable.

It would be positive on so many levels. Even now, idiots protest rules that disallow saggy pants in restaurants under of the excuse that it's racist. The black pathology is beyond description and has festered because of the slavery and prejudice that followed after all these years.

In one swift move, we would eliminate a hopeless pathology brought on by a mindless evil created centuries ago.

I would prevent the fall of Rome including the decline. It would stay just as powerful as it was at the time of the late republic, and in fact stay a republic. It would eventually spread across all the world and rule every part of every continent. This would significantly diminish things such as war, poverty, crime, terrorism and racism. In addition the entire world would be a democracy. Despite all this technology, science, philosophy and religion would progress the same way they have. Guns would still exist, as well as computers, cars, airplanes, etc. We would still have the worlds major religions such as christianity, islam, judaism, hinduism, budism etc.

Humans. Look at what we have done to our planet. Face ourselves in the mirror. We are the most selfish, greedy and wasteful creatives in the known universe. We think we are intelligent yet we are probably the stupidest of all animals for coming up with ideas such as 'money' or 'city' We know more about space than we do of the animals in the ocean (we've killed off 90% of blue whales before we knew anything about them.) What do we actually produce for our planet let alone ourselves? We consume and destroy so much: from slaughtering animals to building metropolises. Destroying forests so we can put pen to paper and burning fossil fuels so that in 50 years, earth's natural ecosystems will be an absolute shambles. Oh and don't forget about the oil spills and rubbish in the pacific and atlantic. What about the melting ice-caps? We don't do enough to control our populations, in fact it's been way too high for 100s of years. Creating the problems above and starvation, poverty, crime, murder etc

In our defense in probably is in our nature to consume but not on this level. We should be smart enough to start biting those bullets (from all those wars) and start coming up with long-term, real, implementable plans to save this planet. Because if you realize it or not. Earth is already in big trouble the way we are using it.

Astrophysics and a lot of physics is useless in my opinion. What is CERN actually providing for this planet apart for using huge amounts of power to simulate the big big? (which is still and always will be a theory). We can use Maths, chemistry and Biology to start using our brains for good purposes in order to save this planet. I personally think we need more top research chemists. It is a really under-rated science because physics get's all the headlines. It's how we can use the building blocks of nature to possibly create eco-friendly sustainable power, maybe solve global warming, diseases, our oceans (they're getting more acidic), sustainable, enviromentally friendly materials for industry. To clean up the mess we have gotten ourselves into. Loads more things and we probably haven't even scratched the surface of chemistry.

The time for action is now.

I would tell Christopher Colombus to stay in Europe and NOT go out to sea.

Native Americans would be living in peace in their homelands whether its in the USA or Cuba or Mexico and their once thriving indian cultures would still be intact.

Europeans would be living in Europe and their descendants would be better off. look at how shitty the USA and latin america is compared to Europe. white people did that. the americas definately weren't that way before they came in killed most of the indians with smallpox and turned two entire continents into trash.

you have to admit that the descendants of spaniards in latin america have shittier lives than their descendants in spain. the same thing with anglos having shitty lives in america compared to europe. had christopher colombus stayed in europe, a lot of ****** up things wouldn't have happened. (genocide, slavery, etc you know the rest) and both native americans and europeans wouldve been better off in the end.

The American civil war, I'd make it to where the Confederates won that way our government wouldn't have become complete crap like it is today. Eventually possibly 20 or less years after the war slavery would have died away and have been replaced with technology and there would have never been a "pop culture" which is controlled by idiot potheads and morons who shape the future of today's doomed country. The people would have equal power as the government if not more, and country music would dominate the radio instead of this pop/rap crap, and the food would be much better with more family recipes, and my favorite biscuits and gravy, would be sold at almost every restaurant instead of just buffets. The military would have been stronger too, and Indian Territory probably wouldn't have been invaded by pioneers.

"What if you could change one thing in history, what would it be?"

Nothing on the premise who knows what the out come would be, and how much greater damage would have occurred, that would have had even worse results than what has happened. The possibilities of far greater results are infinite, and we can not project what those results would been. Altering one event would have altered other things, and the results could be far more devastating than what we could even begin to guess.

I watched Star Trek (the original series as a child), and a few episodes showed a potential outcome, where one small incident was changed in human history. The end results were worse. For example stopping Hitler, may have resulted in a far more vile, and evil person rising to power, who would have done even greater evils.

Stopping the evolution of man may have resulted in another sentient life form arising, that would have been even more devastating. So here again, the plausible possibilities are infinite. One must consider the affect any change, even the smallest could have on the mechanics of temporal physics of this space and time continuum would have, or would have had. It would mean having to constantly changing, and the altering of other resulting outcomes.

Therefor I would change nothing in history as I stated at the beginning. As I was preparing the end of my answer, I read through all of the other answers, just prior to posting. I maybe wrong, but then we will never know since we don't know what the resultant change(s) would have brought. Whether as individuals, or the result of each change. Could things have been better, yes, but then too, yet then too they could have been far worse.

Now I'll close with a couple of quotes I heard many years ago:

"I am not wise, for there are many acts of foolishness I have committed." Author unknown.

"I'm not wise, for I know how foolish I am, and have been. Therefor any who believe I am wise, are mistaken" Author unknown.

I would not change history.

This takes away free choice or free will on decisions made for better or worst at the time. Most times a major or even a minor decision, made or not made, is based on information known at the time. Even a minor decision made or not made , could be the catalysis that makes a major difference and impact down the road of history. Even a decision thought as a "bad" decision down the road turns out to be a better one in the long term. The same may be true for something thought as a "good" decision at the time.

Nothing. Many affects of events are unpredictable. What you think is a benefit could have very detrimental side affects.

"Improving" infant mortality is one of those. It might feel good emotionally but the disastrous overpopulation it brings to societies without consistent birth control can devastate economies and habitat even far from the societies being ravaged by it.

Asian, African, and Latin American societies are ravaging the world now with gross overpopulating.

Overpopulation is the root cause of most economic and environmental tragedies and most wars. When new land and resources for the expanding hordes can no longer be taken just from other species they must be taken from other people.

nothing. lots of horrible things happened in history that most of us would love to change, yet if those things wouldnt happened, we wouldnt be able to make sure that those things never occur again, and although our society still really mess up, it has grown into a more intellectual society that its able to take better decisions based on facts and not based on ignorance.

this its not the best that we can do as a society or even as person, we still have lots and lots to improve; but I wouldnt change anything because we learn by the mistakes we make not by the mistakes of others

There are several possibilities related to the US becoming a colonial power, getting involved in European conflicts, becoming a super-power and the "world's policeman".

But here's one a bit more obscure. Shays' rebellion. If the Massachusetts farmers had been able to topple the plutocratic government of the state. If they had installed a government more friendly to working people. The current Constitution might be more explicit in the people's right to overthrow tyrannical government. Remember that the Declaration of Independence is not a governing document. Stricter limits on internal use of troops and the ability of peace officers to act as an army of occupation. This might have prevented or postponed the Civil War; as federal forces would have been forbidden to interfere in state secessions. The current bunch of alphabet-soup federal ninjas abusing the populace might have been forbidden.

If France wins then the rise of German militarism is halted in its infancy, British imperial hegemony in European affairs is ended and the Napoleonic code is spread throughout Europe. Actually we could never do anything like that at some point because it would create a paradox, for example imagine that u went back in time 5 years an shot yourself in the head, it is both irrelevant and incorrect to think that A) you will die or B)you will live, if you killed yourself u wouldn't be in the present to go back and kill yourself, and if u didn't kill yourself u would go back and so on and so on, same with this subject: if u went back to change it, in the present u wouldn't have a reason to go back, so the event u were trying to change will continue, if it does u go back and on and on and on...

If we could change one event in history, and I could do, in December 1491 the entire Spanish fleet (and boats from anyone who might rent to them, lend them or sell vehicles to "discover" America) would burn, with not available boats, Spain would have come to America 3 centuries after everyone else and the story would have been different.

England burned the Napoleon's fleet in Egypt, and it worked, thanks to that there is no part of England who speaks French.

Hmm, that's a hard one! Personally, I would try and change all the religious and socipolitical wars that have been ongoing since the dawn of man. I would ensure that the information necessary to make the atomic bomb was burned or destroyed and never sold on to anyone else who may use the blueprints to manufacture bigger and better nuclear warheads. The problem is and always was POWER! People are deluded into this false sense of security that their money and status means they have power - in some respects yes, but it's what you choose to do with it! If you use the power for the benefit of mankind, great! If you are greedy and intent on using your power and wealth to procure weapons or other means in which to inhialate (can't spell this word, sorry!) people, then ultimately, you seal your own doom. People are always looking for revenge for a insjustice they have suffered or feel they have suffered. You only need to look at ISIS to see that it is happening all over again!

That is hard, my first thought was that Hitler was never born, then it was that Hitler never came to power. I thought perhaps the elimination of conflicts between religions. Then I thought of something simpler would be better, but couldn't think of something simple enough. Then I thought if only the followers of Christ had followed what he told him -"Go forth and preach the word of God", he never said anything about create a new religion named Christianity, If that had happened we would all be Jews, which would have eliminated all religious conflict and over 2000 years of jewish persecution.

Finally I decided on something much more personal for me and not so world changing for all time - I would change the killings of John and Robert Kennedy. Their deaths change the attitude of an entire generation in the US and for those of us who remember those days are lives have never been the same. I also believe that both these events started the decline in the attitude of Americas and has lead us to where we are today.

No meteor that helped to croak the dinosaurs. They still may have perished through other events that would happen later (volcanic activity/ice ages, etc). Humans may not be here as a result, but the Earth could be in better shape.

Besides that, Hitler dying in WW1 would have precluded many horrific acts and situations that did occur.

Say, you wanted to go back and change the assassination of Kennedy, you would cause the nuclear destruction of the US by Cuba.

Adolf Hitler (German: [ˈadɔlf ˈhɪtlɐ]; 20 April 1889 – 30 April 1945) was an Austrian-born German politician and the leader of the Nazi Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP); National Socialist German Workers Party). He was chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945 and dictator of Nazi Germany (as Führer und Reichskanzler) from 1934 to 1945. Hitler was at the centre of Nazi Germany, World War II in Europe, and the Holocaust.

Hitler was a decorated veteran of World War I. He joined the German Workers' Party (precursor of the NSDAP) in 1919, and became leader of the NSDAP in 1921. In 1923, he attempted a coup in Munich to seize power. The failed coup resulted in Hitler's imprisonment, during which time he wrote his memoir, Mein Kampf (My Struggle). After his release in 1924, Hitler gained popular support by attacking the Treaty of Versailles and promoting Pan-Germanism, antisemitism, and anti-communism with charismatic oratory and Nazi propaganda. Hitler frequently denounced international capitalism and communism as being part of a Jewish conspiracy.

Hitler's Nazi Party became the largest elected party in the German Reichstag, leading to his appointment as chancellor in 1933. Following fresh elections won by his coalition, the Reichstag passed the Enabling Act, which began the process of transforming the Weimar Republic into the Third Reich, a single-party dictatorship based on the totalitarian and autocratic ideology of National Socialism. Hitler aimed to eliminate Jews from Germany and establish a New Order to counter what he saw as the injustice of the post-World War I international order dominated by Britain and France. His first six years in power resulted in rapid economic recovery from the Great Depression, the denunciation of restrictions imposed on Germany after World War I, and the annexation of territories that were home to millions of ethnic Germans, actions which gave him significant popular support.

Hitler actively sought Lebensraum ("living space") for the German people. His aggressive foreign policy is considered to be the primary cause of the outbreak of World War II in Europe. He directed large-scale rearmament and on 1 September 1939 invaded Poland, resulting in British and French declarations of war on Germany. In June 1941, Hitler ordered an invasion of the Soviet Union. By the end of 1941 German forces and their European allies occupied most of Europe and North Africa. Failure to defeat the Soviets and the entry of the United States into the war forced Germany onto the defensive and it suffered a series of escalating defeats. In the final days of the war, during the Battle of Berlin in 1945, Hitler married his long-time lover, Eva Braun. On 30 April 1945, less than two days later, the two committed suicide to avoid capture by the Red Army, and their corpses were burned. Under Hitler's leadership and racially motivated ideology, the regime was responsible for the genocide of at least 5.5 million Jews, and millions of other victims whom he and his followers deemed racially inferior.

Copied and pasted from Wikipedia. If i personally want to change something i would want to change Hitler's existence and the killing of the Jews and his terrible actions.

You have to be careful, as you have no idea what would happen if history was changed. However, I would prevent WWI from occurring, as it would have lead to a stronger Europe today. I say WWI instead of WW2, as WW2 was based off WW1, meaning that some other leader would have done a similar thing (without the holocaust however). But, if WW1 never occurred, there would not likely be another war as it was all Wilhelm II's idea.

I would completely stop, in fact never allow to begin, the bringing of African slaves to the Western Hemisphere - the USA in particular. We could easily have done without them, sure, prices on cotton and sugar would have gone up, but not even nearly disastrously so (if I hear a well meaning but ill informed person say that blacks built this country, I will scream - or even worse, the mythical black African kingdoms who were supposedly peaceful and pursued only knowledge - until, predictably, whitey showed uo and ruined it. Utter BS. OH! Trivia for you; racism is a new idea, relatively, and came from observations that can tell you why racism developed (with the info they had at the time, it was a logical conclusion). Race was a non-issue until the Enlightenment when Europeans were so very much more advanced and so, when they encountered other peoples who were so far behind them in every way - some thousands of years behind for some groups (think native Americans or Australians; list is too long. Africans were NOT that far behind, but still far behind ). We would also not have this shameful blot on our (our=usa) history. We almost certainly never would have had the war that BY FAR killed the most Americans - the civil war of course. And, I know I'll get heat for this, but our crime rate would more resemble the UK's or Germany's than what it is now.

To be honest, the one thing that I would change would be to eliminate the creation of education. First, lets examine all the conflicts in our past including concepts of war, hatred, human right, racial discrimination, etc. All of these conflicts lead to nothing but education. if education had not existed, we would have no war. Now, one would simply question and state, " But without education we would have wars and arguments on the most illogical and unessential subjects." However, this could not happen because without education, concepts of war or conflict would have never existed. Though there are many great aspects of education, question yourself whether or not education is really worth all of the pain and confliction our world still goes through today.

Modern history - easy choice. If the German government had refused to support the Austrian invasion of Serbia, and made clear that if other European countries went to war and dragged Germany in, that war would have been defensive only, defending Germany and Austria's frontiers against invasion.

Britain and the then British Empire would have kept well clear, the Russian government might have hesitated about a war of aggression against Germany, and France, while itching to go to war, would have received an incredibly bloody nose and very likely have descended into internal turmoil paving the way for peace.

No WWI would mean no WWII, no Third Reich, no holocaust. The Russian government might have collapsed, but without German help, it's questionable whether the Bolsheviks would have attained power, and Russia might well have become, over time, a relatively stable democracy with a social democratic consensus government.

And with any luck, the American Empire might never have risen - the British one was moving towards independent democratic states anyway.

It would have been amazing if human beings had created language and the written word 250,000 years earlier. There is so much human history that we know absolutely nothing about, relying instead on oral traditions that eventually transformed into mythology. There are so many hints to this history in ancient religious texts, from Nordic and Hindu poetry to Egyptian, Asian and American native etchings, but were not even allowed to teach it as history because of "religious" implications.

I suspect if we had a longer sense of history, we would be less hysterical about current events, because we'd be much more aware how often history repeats itself.
