The foundation of China's calendar is 1437 BC Feb 2
presumed 1200 years earlier as 2637 BC Feb 2
but correctly based on 2029 BC July 19.
However the country of China founded as its first city
was not until 1370 BC with Xian.
This was to honor 1000 years of man since the Flood.
At that time the Flood was still debated as 2370 BC
or 2953 BC.

October 1st 1949 was the date Mao Zedong made the official declaration of the creation of 'The People's Republic of China'.
They celebrate this every year with a National holiday, ceremonies and shows.
Before this there was a 'China' but it was never 'founded' in a formal way by someone declaring 'From this day forward we are China' simply because it changed gradually over time.
