Question:
Hitler also did good things.?
2012-06-27 09:45:45 UTC
History is written by the victors.

I read you, and im amazed how people dont even know how big and how worse crimes Stalin did. Stalin did 10 time worse crimes than Hitler.
I agreed, Hitler killed people and this is all so wrong.
But why people ignore facts that Hitler did also good things to world and for germany?

List:
He wrote first law of protecting the animals.
He started first checking of drunk drivers.
Organized crime was brought to 0% during his time.
He created ecologic laws for protecting water, earth and air.
For the first time in history workers had payed vacations.
After death of Fritz Todt he created black box for airplanes.
He prohibited selling of cigarettes to women.
He prohibited smoking to people in uniforms and persons under the age of 18.
He also prohibited smoking in public areas.
He first placed photos of lungs etc. on cigarette boxes.
He is the founder of Volskwagen (people cars), and the designer of VW beetles, the world nr 1 saled car.
He fighted Breast Cancer and Lung Cancer.
The first freeways in the world were built in Germany. Autobahn ("The whole world came, and saw, and copied.").
He saved Germany from unemployment and financial ruin.
He Promoted of architecture,music and the arts;
first epic olympic games were held in 1936-Germany
World's first research linking smoking and cancer thx to Hitler;
An Affordable Vacation is your right, thanks to Adolf
women's rights
Homes with gardens. No more "rabbit-warrens".
Hitler had sparing the 338,000 British and French troops at Dunkirk in 1940.if not the result was the capture of the entire British Expeditionary Force.
He did everything possible to avoid war with Britain & France
Under the guidance of the Reich, Europe would speedily have become unified.
he free the German media, German education, Geman finance, German politics, German culture from the Jews and all communists who wanted to transform Germany into a ruined country under soviet power.
Reunited all German speaking langues into Großdeutsches Reich
protection of animals and
During his reign Germany was the most powerful state in the world

He did so many things just in few years.
People may not undestand but has anyone ever asked why Hitler killed jews? Because Jews took people homes, money, jobs, people went poor, lost their money, food, starve for death. Hitler just was patriot for his own people.
Hitler came to power in democraticly way.
Only thing what he did bad was killing peoples, but everything else he did good. You still cant ignore facts.
I am not defening Hitler. He is murder and monster, but Stalin was 10 time even worse.
Like i said, History is written by the victors.
Funny how they wrote in book that Hitler killed people, yet Stalin never killed anyone and was good guy.

I have never heard anyone say that Stalin never killed anyone or that he was a good guy.

I didn't read your list because it doesn't matter what good things he did, they are completely overshadowed by all of the evil. There are a lot of serial killers who were well liked in their community and and asset to society until it was found out what they really were.

Some of the claims you make are questionable to say the least.

For a start, Jews did not 'take' jobs, homes, money etc from anyone. They earned the money they made, and bought their own homes. If they got jobs it was because they had the intelligence, skills, etc. Hitler was the one who stole jobs, money, homes, etc, from Jews and other people who were considered non-humans under nazi law.

His regime was oppressive and brutal. Many other people as well as Jews were at risk of losing their jobs, homes, lives, etc. These included gypsies, homosexuals, communists,Jehovah's Witnesses, anyone mentally or physically handicapped, etc.

Hitler only 'promoted' art, music etc that he approved of. Music and art that did not fit in with Nazi ideology was suppressed. Many authors were banned, and thousands and thousands of books were burnt. Hitler had a list of British authors who he wanted to have killed when he arrived in Britain for instance, including authors like Noel Coward, George Bernard Shaw etc.

People were not only killed under the nazi regime. They were humiliated, degraded, and tortured as well. Anyone the nazis disliked could be brutally beaten up in the streets. All sorts of cruel and petty laws were introduced to make the lives of Jews and others he disliked increasingly miserable. It was a fiendish regime.

The reason unemployment may have gone down in Nazi Germany is that so many people were killed or deported that there were more jobs available for the people who were left. Another reason is that women were discouraged from working. Hitler thought women should stay at home and have lots of children. This was not of course a particularly unusual opinion for the time, but it hardly makes Hitler a champion of women's rights.

And i have never seen any book that suggests that Stalin never killed anyone and was a good guy. Many people were killed under Stalin's regime, but he did not organise a mass extermination on the scale that Hitler did. Hitler's regime was horrific in a very particular way.

And why would we want Europe to be unified anyway? What good has that ever done anyone? The EU is a mess.

Stalin killed 28 million Russians whilst in power. A Stalin quote is "A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic." Policy under Stalin revolved around killing all enemies, potential enemies and anyone who may be led to become an enemy. He evacuated all of Crimean Tatar under a forced emigration policy to Siberia, causing widespread suffering because there was one opposition group which had started up in the area. Similar to Hitler, Stalin rebuilt his country in just a few years. Similar to Hitler, Stalin used harsh and ruthless methods to do so. Millions died in Stalin's labour programmes. Whereas Hitler was opposed to killing Germans because he believed them to be Herrenvolk, Stalin saw his people merely as tools for his own ends. Stalin was not a "good guy" and any History book saying he was is providing a unilaterally biased outlook. Whilst he did many things that were bad, the facts should be explored, as you say. For example, Stalin rebuilt his country - had he not done so he would have almost certainly have been defeated by Hitler in 1941.

Whilst I do agree Hitler did many "good" things for Germany, that is not the way to look at it if you want to explore the facts. We know that Hitler intentionally made himself dictator with the Reichstag Fire and under the Enabling Act and under the abolitions of the Laender, political parties and trade unions and in the Night of the Long Knives. We know Hitler persecuted Jews with the Law for Protection of German Blood and Honour, boycotts and Kristallnacht up until forced emigration and the use of concentration camps. We know Hitler aimed to indoctrinate the young with the DJV, the HJ and the BDM. We know Gleichschaltung, the Gestapo and the Schutzstaffel turned Germany into a police state. We know Hitler used propaganda to indoctrinate Germans - William Shirer said when he went to Germany, learned academics spouted complete nonsense. But even these were not learned academics under Hitler - everything had been "Aryanised". We know this. We do, as you say, know that Hitler built Germany up under the New Plan and rearmed it and developed it and prepared it for war in Europe from 1936.

Whether someone is "good" or "bad" is an opinion - this could be a massively long and equally pointless argument. You can't ignore facts and therefore you can't ignore that this is a multilateral debate... and always will be.

In his public statements, Hitler said repeatedly that he was a Christian. Millions of Germans - who also regarded themselves as Christians - had no problems with this. Hitler was their religious leader and they were happy to commit mass murder when he took them to war. People find this hard to believe because that kind of Christianity has gone out of fashion. The Nazis were decisively defeated and hardly any Christians today are anything like the Nazis. It is no coincidence that the Nazis took power in the part of Europe where the religious wars of the 16th and 17th centuries were the worst. They would have felt at home with the pope who sentenced the entire population of the Netherlands to death for being Protestant; or with Luther who repeatedly urged his followers to murder Jews; or with the witch burners; or with the crusaders who delighted European Christendom by slaughtering 100,000 people when they took Jerusalem; or with the crusaders who destroyed the Cathar version of Christianity in southern France. I would imagine that many of the leaders of those Christians might have admitted privately that they did not accept the nicer parts of the Bible - "turn the other cheek" and the good Samaritan. The crusaders were robbers who were mainly interested in getting power and wealth. The witch burners were not really defending Europe against Satan - they just hated women and liked torturing and killing them. Luther was on a power trip and wanted to be a pope. I am not surprised that Hitler is quoted privately as having rubbished the Christianity he practiced in public. I wish we had a reliable account of exactly what he did say - then there would not be so much debate as to what exactly he really believed. But you try to rewrite history by claiming that he condemned Christianity publicly. So we are challenging you to produce the evidence.

BS.

Hitler was socialist power maniac and he wrecked Germany big time in just 12 years (from 1933 to 1945).

First his socialist programs wrecked the economy.

Then he robbed Germans of Jewish descend to temporarily fix the budget.

Then he started huge war turning Germans into cannon powder and inviting carpet bombing on German heads.

What was good about it?

Imagine if I will give you the gift of $1,000,000, but say that money are actually in the vault of the regional bank and order you to go get them. You will storm the bank and will be killed during that robbery attempt.

Would your family call me a good guy for giving you a gift of $1,000,000?

ADDED

"During his reign Germany was the most powerful state in the world"

That was actually tested and proven being not true. Apparently and luckily for everybody, other states were stronger than Germany. Google how WWII had ended for Germany.

uhhh i've never read anything about stalin being a good guy and the reason why Hitler did all this was for POWER to show the people he later brainwashed that he was a good guy. he avoided war with britain and france because he knew they'd take him down beofre he had full power over the brainwashed people. Organized crime was down because he killed everyone and the people left were in concentration camps and too weak to do anything wrong. SO what he helped animals? who cares, he killed thousands of people and tortured thousands more. He killed the jews because most of them did not look like the perfect race that hitler wanted. not because they were all outlaws. I have no idea were you got your info from but DAMN it's stupid. and because he did like 10 good things does NOT outweigh the bad things he did. I can't believe you wrote this... freaking nazi.

Even though Stalin did many things worse than Hitler, and that Hitler did tons of good things, he still killed 6 Million Jews, including a million Jewish children. And in most people's eyes, that is MUCH worse. Stalin's downsides are often overlooked due to the fact that he won WWII, which is actually kind of a bad reason.

Forget Stalin and Hitler - MaoTse Tung makes them both look like amateurs.

(Clearly you have never heard of Alexander Solzhenyitsin with regard to the Soviets btw)

No amount of revisionsm - being a vegetarian, kind to dogs, a mummy's boy, mono-orchidism etc is going to make up for Hitler's atrocities. You might benefit from reading Mein Kampf. (Or then again perhaps not if it just reinforces your neo-nazism)

In addition to curmudgeon55's answer: Hitler let escape the expedition corps at Dunkirk still in the hope to win the British as an ally to fight the russians.

Hitler was up to rule the world, he needed to be backed up by the German people and international community. That's why he did "good" things or having the Olympics in '36 arranged that attractive. For sure not because of him being a saint or something far similar.

All the money needed for all he did was all lent or stolen, but however was brought by by Hjalmar Schacht, a financial genius who served Hitler, but only until he realized that Hitlers sole target was war and to get rid of the jews, with genocide if needed. Schacht was spoken free at Nuremberg court. Not well known is that genocide wasn't Hitlers first choice to solve the "Judenfrage", the Jewish Question. It was actually the third choice. First he tried simply to expel them, here he failed as foreign countries refused to take the refugees, even that at this time it was known that jews must fear for their lifes in Germany. Check for example the odyssey of the ship MS St. Louis. USA, Canada and Cuba refused to take the refugees so they were forced to sail back to Europe where more than half of them died in the holocaust. Another choice was the Madagaskarplan, to move the jews to Madagaskar. This was not to be executed for the british navy would have intercepted it. I don't know why nobody tried to get the League of Nations (the predecessor of the UNO) involved to declare a channel in the atlantic ocean up to the island to a neutral zone and have that plan got finished. To expel the jews, to rob their property wouldn't be a nice thing to do but would be the far better fate for the jews then to be killed.

All together Hitler was one of the worst and succesful criminals in the world.

But I do agree with you that history sometimes is manipulated by the victors and I disagree with that. Hitlers book "Mein Kampf" is prohibited in Germany - but it is thrown at the third reich that they burnt books of undesired authors - isn't prohibition the same?

War criminals where prosecuted at the Nuremberg trials and charged with preparing and execution of an agressive war and war crimes against humanity - sure there were guilty of that. But this laws didn't exist to the prosecuted when they did it. One of the oldest laws in history - Nulla poena sine lege - was broken by the victors first time in history. BTW, Stalin, Churchill and Truman could have brought to the same court as well for the same crimes and would have been received death penalty too. Stalin for the execution of some thousand polish COs in Chatyn, Churchill for carpet bombing with incendiary ordnance targeting German civilians, mostly women and children, to break there morality - as if they had any morality left and were able to stop Hitler - they were tired of war ever since WW1. It was crude and evil vengeance of Churchill when he had the chance to do so, for V2s launched from Germany at London (which was a crime too). Truman atomized civilians in Japan - for the same reason AND to intimidate Stalin, starting the cold war even before the hot was over. He could have targeted military bases or naval carriers to make th Japs surrender but to burn a whole town to ash is simply more impressive. The nuke was intended for Germany btw, just the war was over before the weapon was available.

History should kept free from lies. Even if it is for a good reason, for example to keep people from repeating it. If you leave space for speculation and forbid books, you will make it all mystic which raises even more and worse people who would glorify emporers, dictators and other non democratic characters in history.

Keep your interest in history but be reasonable. Take a look at Berlin how it looked like in May of '45 and tell me again Hitler did any good for Germany.

You make a good point. However, where did you get your information from? I think the points about him prompted cancer research are a bit stretched, and unlikely to have totally been him. Also, I was very surprised about the Black Box, so I researched it, and couldn't find any more info on it.

I also think Caesar is understated as a murderer/dictator, he also killed more than Hitler, and mostly by his own hands, slaughtering men, women and children just because he was passing through their village. One of the other users mentioned Chinese dictators, which is also a good example.

This debate reminds me of slavery - most think of blacks/African Americans, whereas actually there were more white (European) slaves, who were treated much worse, and also blacks started trading whites before whites traded blacks. However, the extent to which blacks were the 'victors' is clearly dubious.

Especially with history, is it important to know both sides, and you make a very interesting point. However the extent to which we can truly know is always limited; we know what we are told.

Some of your points are sort of accurate, many are slanted a bit and some seem to be WAY off. Dunkirk troops saved by Hitler? How? Hitler didn't 'Stop' german army advance to give opportunity for escape, the german advance was at end of supply line and maintenance life of most of it armor, the vehicles had to stop where they did because they were low on fuel, ammo, and clutches, brakes and tracks need repairs. Luftwaffe was at close to end of operational range of their existing airfields- they needed to move forward and repair captured fields before getting to longer over battlefield times. Propaganda after the fact said stop advance to give opportunity to surrender or make peace after evacuation, truth is available about supply difficulties- note that Austria advance ended earlier because of equipment failure also- but they made it far enough to occupy most of needed route to capital and give political public relations cover for the reunification of german people with Austria/Osterriech. Democratic election? yes, 43% of vote just like Bill Clinton- and some political deal making afterwords just like Bill Clinton, some people dieing for religious, political reasons just like under Bill Clinton-- (Now the Dems will jump on me?) If you are over 13 as supposed to be, you should get back to history books and study Wiemar Republic, Sparticists, NSDAP and Zionists. Could also study Volkswagen, Porsche, Auto-Union history, DKW and Opel history for their Volkswagen competition, study Wehrmacht activities prior to Hitler. Stalin comments have basis in fact- you note 'winners write history' and that does help in noting lesser publicity of soviet atrocities. How about the US army killing German prisoners at Remagen camps? not much publicity here about the starvation deaths?. .

I fail to see why you attack Stalin?

I would see Hitler as more of a good guy, I wasn't aware of his achievements and I think it's amazing but also such a shame that he got power hungry.

Though Stalin too did save Russia, without him it would have been annihilated by the Germans and possibly they would have won the war!

Stalin massively increased the employment rate.
