Even in today's world, we do need to keep up with our history. Sometimes, it can help us solve a few mysteries (like figuring out what happened back in those times), or other times it explains why and how things are happening around in the present times (like why there's higher security in places that use to be considered safe).



It's not necessarily the question of "who writes history", it's more of the lines of what causes someone to tell a story about a certain event... it's like telling a story, but it's really a big deal for that person to tell you. but really, history can be written or retold by anyone... you just got to know if these guys are reliable or not.



We do learn something from history- it's really a lesson of making sure you don't make the same mistakes some guy did a long time ago. We also learn why things today happen, because of what happened in the past.



As for history being correct and truthful- you got to know where to find a good source... check out historychannel.com - it's a great site that talks about the facts... they uncover the truths. If the information isn't true, then it's not a reliable source... the main problem about history is, that sometimes the information is so long in the past, that sometimes, it's takes a while to figure out the truth. Sometimes, someone would assume something is true without really looking into the facts... you just have to know where you're looking.

In conclusoin History is truthfull but it varies sometimes based on the time period and information.
