I would have to agree with JB.

I mean, come on, you can't figure that out on your own? Geez!

New? You mean new letters from soldiers from WWI?

Anything any modern day person would put in their letter if they were fighting in a battle zone, except the use of letters is not so frequently used nowadays, not much has changed in thought and language since then so anything you find in a WW1 or WW2 letter should'nt be that diffrent from anything you find in todays war letters, of course except for new technology and what not.

My Grandfather was in the Engineers during World War I. In those days they used to make postcards that you could attach a photograph to and send it home.

Someone took a snapshot of him and two of his buddies.

He wrote on it

Dear Mother,

Here we are, this is a picture of us and the old man we live with, that's me up a tree.

It's a picture of three men standing around a small tree, and one guy who has climbed about half way up the tree.

Very much like someone would send home while on a holiday or something, cheerful, with an underlying message "We're ok, please don't worry, love Tommy".

I love you..I miss you...I hope I make it out alive..Kiss the kids for me..

I mean, what would YOU write home if you were in a war?

Try talking to a veteran. They would give you some insight as to what they thought of while they were away.
