Lady Godiva didn't require a "second" name as she was married to Leofric Earl of Mercia, both of whom were generous benefactors to religious houses. She is mentioned in the Doomsday Survey as one of the few Anglo Saxons and the only woman to remain a major landholder post the Norman Conquest.

female Godiva did not require a "2d" call as she replaced into married to Leofric Earl of Mercia, the two one in each of whom have been generous benefactors to non secular properties. She is reported contained interior the Doomsday Survey as between the few Anglo Saxons and the merely female to proceed to be an significant landholder placed up the Norman Conquest.

Many people of history had one name; for example, look at Pluto and Socrates. She too had one name-Godiva. Lady was just added once she was married.
