Many people think that Alexander the Great was from the so-called Macedonia (he former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia). This idea of Macedonia came after the 2nd world war by Tito the dictator of Yugoslav Republic. CHECK EVERYWHERE, ASK EVERY HISTORIAN ALEXANDER THE GREAT WAS GREEK FROM THE GREEK REGION MACEDONIA. AFTER CONQUERING GREECE, PHILIP AND ALEXANDER, TRIED TO PUT ALL THE CITIES-COUNTRIES AS ONE NATION. MOST PEOPLE IN THE REST GREECE LOOKED AT ALEXANDER AS DICTATOR THAT'S WHY SOMETIMES THEY CALLED HIM BARBARIAN. For example check Herodotus of Halicarnassus(1st historian who wrote down history) texts. Only Greeks were able to compete in the Olympics and Alexander proved that he was Greek as it is written in historical papers 2300 YEARS AGO AND NOT IN 1960. There are many other references from other historians, always talking 2300 years ago, that before battles Alexander talked to his soldiers and used to say: "We are Greeks", usually followed by an adjective before. Go ask every historian. AND FYI PEOPLE OF FYROM. ALEXANDER= THE ONE WHO PROTECTS HIS MEN(αλεξ-ανδρος).PHILIP= THE FRIEND OF HORSES(φιλος-ιππος). ΟLYMPIA(his mother)=TOOK HER NAME FROM THE GREEK MOUNTAIN OLYMPOS. What these names mean in your language(SLAVS: you can see countless similarities to your language with Serbia, Bulgaria or Romania. Oh, and Macedonians believed in the Greek gods just as every city-country in Greece(e.g. Sparta, Athens etc.). You can check that as well. AND PLZ NO COMMENT such as: "i read someones book that said that...". I'M TALKING ABOUT PAPERS WRITTEN THOUSANDS YEARS AGO!!!

You are 1000% right.

LOMAX is wrong

The definition of Greek in those days was BOTH geographical AND ethnic

They just dint have a central Government and where divided in many cities witct hat their own Government.

Also that Alexander The great was little better than a barbarian is a big lie.He should read more about the Greek education and the famous teachers he had and then answer the question.

I take his last paragraph "By the way, the Romans competed in the Olympics, and they weren't Greek" only as a joke

I guess when Greeks where building Parthenon LOMAX ancestors where eating acorns thats why he is so hostile :)

Correct,it is not a question, but inaccuracies are not called for mr Lomax,Macedonians established

their Greek ancestry(city of Argos) through their king and their evidence was submitted to the Amfictions(judges)in charge of the Olympics in 432 BC and that conservative body accepted their evidence as correct and the Macedonians took part in the Olympics of that year.King Philip's

horses won the race at the Olympics the day Alexander, his son,was born in 356 BC.

Aristotle from Stageira and Democritous

founder of the Atomic Theory were Macedonians and respected throughout Greece

....The Romans were conquerors and made a mockery of the games when Nero, that murderous sycopath was entered for the singing contest...

With the Greeks, i could would desire to trust the final consensus; Aristotle is the terrific. Aristotle quite began technology. He replaced into the 1st to extremely start up examining plant life, animals and human beings in a manner we could planned to be such as what we call "technology" immediately. i haven't studied the chinese language all that lots. consistent with threat Confucius, his philosophy has motivated chinese language subculture ever provided that he first uttered it and remains an excellent element of chinese language life immediately. He actually motivated an excellent type of human beings...Now, even if if or no longer which skill he's a "super" logician is as much as you i assume.

We all know that Alexander was Macedonian. In the eyes of many - not least Demosthenes - that made him little better than a barbarian; hardly a proper Greek.

The definition of Greek in those days was not geographical, but ethnic. Cities in Italy and Asia Minor were accepted as Greek, as they were settled by true Greeks and populated by their descendants. This didn't apply to Macedonians.

By the way, the Romans competed in the Olympics, and they weren't Greek.

Not everyone knows that Cleopatra was Greek, either.(That's a statement, not a question)

For all of the information you have included, you have forgotten one thing: the Greeks themselves never considered Philip or Alexander to be true Greeks.
