Aryan includes blonde, red, brown and black hair, and blue, brown and green eyes. What made an Aryan is lack of ancestry in certain ethnicity that the Nazi's considered inferior. For example a lot of Polish People are Blond Haired and Blue Eyed, but the Nazis considered the Poles to be inferior and to be a good Aryan you could not have Polish ancestry.



Europe has a history of armies from everywhere having invaded at one time or another. Most of the soldiers would stay in the invaded land and add his genes to the local gene pool. For example, a Roman army would go to Germany and fight the Goths, when the soldiers service was up, they would stay and farm the land, marry a local woman, raise a family.



After 2,000 years of invading armies from everywhere, most Europeans have a mixed heritage. The Nazi's created a list of Ethnic origins that they considered inferior and an Aryan could not have any ancestors belonging to those Ethnicity's.

It had more to do with genealogy, the Nazis could trace family history back centuries, so even if somebody had dark hair and dark eyes, they were still "Aryan" if they had no Jewish, Slavic, etc ancestry. They might be blond and blue eyed and have a Jewish grandparent and still be in trouble.



While blond hair and blue eyed was seen as an 'ideal', a lot of Germans aren't, they have different shades of brown hair, red hair, blue eyes, green eyes, hazel eyes and even brown eyes.

This was interesting. I always assume that Dravidian meant non-indo-European language, since race theories always presumed that aryan = indo-European. The race theory has been debunked for a long time - in favor of believing that ethnicity is too widely mixed and varied to form anything as cohesive as once thought in the 1920s. The theory of race was based on linguistic similarities which are still evident, even as you point out. A better way to say it, might be that India consists of several peoples, distantly related in language and culture, but that have lived together and mingled for centuries, and are stuck, by fate, to live under one state. Whether it's a nation-state or a multi-national state, you guys still have to live together.

An Arya is one who hails from a noble family, of gentle behavior and demeanor, good-natured and of righteous conduct



And the great epic Ramayana has a singularly eloquent expression describing Lord Rama as:

arya sarva samascaiva sadaiva priyadarsanah

Arya, who worked for the equality of all and was dear to everyone.



The Rigveda also uses the word Arya something like thirty six times, but never to mean a race.
