No WW1 was basically an European war between the German/Austrian people and the rest of western Europe with land borders with Germany including the UK which joined in support. WW2 was in fact a world war as the war in Europe was with the Germans again and the war in the Far East was with the Japanese. WW2 was going both in Europe and in the Far East for about 4 years before the yanks bothered to join, so one could say that both were won effectively by Britain and her European allies as the yanks only joined after being blasted into it by the Pearl Harbour debacle of which the Yankee government were warned.

Archduke Ferdinand of Austira/Hungary was assassinated in Sarajevo, which is in Bosnia-Herzegovina, in 1914. Since all of Europe was geared up and ready for war at that time, the assassination was the trigger. Serbia and Bosnia were controlled by the Austria/Hungary Empire. Austria attacked Serbia. France jumped in on Serbia's side. Soon Everybody from the UK to Russia and also a few other places jumped in. The war was fought primarily along a line which stretched from Belgium across France, to the Swiss border. Until the US came along in 1917, the war was pretty much a stalemate. Thanks to the US and some ingenious and brave Canadians at Vimy Ridge (including some of my ancestors who died there), the tide turned in favor of the English-speaking people. Doesn't anybody ever teach history any more? Or even read a book?

Go to BBC website and find out more about the 27 remaining UK veterans of World War One. The most interesting is a guy now 106, very sprightly, living in Australia originally in the Royal Navy from c1917-1932. He saw the surrender of the Imperial German Fleet at Scapa Flow in c1918/1919.
Tune in to BBC 1 TV on Saturday evening when HM Queen will be at the Royal Albert Hall here in London. Hundreds of veterans will be in the hall.
Tune in to BBC 1 TV on Sunday 10.30GMT to watch live coverage of our Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Whitehall here in London. Present, HM Queen, Commonwealth Ambassadors etc plus the entire nation, on parade.
Be late and you'll have to report to the Guards office at the back of Horseguards Parade.
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

Both wars were in Europe. Germany tried to take over the world and lost both times. What else do you need to know?
wow, that is a pretty broad question. like what, the reasons for it. the people and countries involve, aircraft of the time, weapons of the time. nuclear explosions. You may want to narrow it down some.
