Hitler was a charismatic speaker who was able to reach out to people in all classes of society.

He had blue eyes, short clipped hair and a funny squared moustache.

He was obsessed with the occult and borrowed the swastika symbol from the Hindus. He was also vegetarian and not very interested in sex.

He married two times but never had children of his own, though he loved children a lot.

He hated his father but worshipped his mother, but she died when he was barely a teen. Hitler wasn't a successful student, he was dismissed from the art school/college he went to in Vienna. He tried selling his art in Vienna without much success. He saw how prosperous the Jews were while he had no job and was prowling the streets. Later on, when he came to power, he made anti-semitism (hatred of the Jews) part of the Nazi policies.

He was overjoyed when the First World War came. He fought with such bravery and that won him an Iron Cross. He was very bitter about the Treaty of Versailles and accused the Weimar politicians for having backstabbed the army!

Later, he joined the Nazi party and was hungry for power. IN 1923, he unsuccessfully tried to take over Munich. His trial got media attention and his impressive speaking skills made him serve only 9 months in prison although high treason deserved a life sentence. During the 9 months, he wrote his famous book Mein Kampf (My struggles)

He then sought to gain power by legal means.

The rest is part of the German Depth Study.

Well...he was a good and infamous (famous for bad reasons) leader, with terrible ethics and teachings. He knew how to persuade others, and he realized how he could achieve his goal of making Germany a totalitarian government very quickly. He took full advantage of most Germans' hatred of the Treaty of Versailles, as they believed that they were being subjected to unjust conditions. Adolf Hitler was definitely dedicated to his work. He wanted all other opposition eradicated, and to do that, he needed to spend a lot of time getting rid of them in some way. He felt that there should only be one political party in Germany: the Nazi party. Hitler felt the need to replace the whole of Germany's army with his own, which was filled with only the most loyal Nazi party members. I suppose he was untrustworthy because the Nazi party was destined to fail, no matter how well Hitler could persuade every single German citizen from child to adult that his cause was just. Hitler wanted the world - Britain and France in particular, but at the time the two countries had powerful allies which had defeated Germany many years ago. It was kinda easy to foresee the downfall of his government, is what I'm getting at. Adolf Hitler was intelligent because he was able to formulate a plot to take over the whole of Germany. The domination of an entire country, and the attempted extermination of entire groups was no easy feat to attempt. He used terror to keep citizens in line, as well as propaganda (such as posters) to make the public afraid of certain racial groups. Hopefully this is all the information you need. It's not very in-depth, but I'm certain you can expand on it.

I just read a book called The Boy Who Dared. Well.. Hitler basically told the country they would have peace, but after he became their leader, he got into many wars and took a lot of freedoms away from the Germans. Anything that wasn't German was banned, such as books by American authors. They banned British broadcasting stations and just any foreign station, and made them only listen to the German broadcasts, which didn't tell the truth about their wins and losses in the wars. If you weren't German, I guess you could say he thought you weren't 'good enough'. And then there was the holocaust, which was one of the worst things ever, where he took all the Jewish people and sent them to concentration camps and killed them....

- Hitler was a talented speech maker and fully understood the dynamics of the German public opinion. He recognized the value of propaganda in the promotion of his political views,

- the leader of the National-Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazis).(1921-1945)

- Hitler made many promises to persuade the people of Germany to elect him and his party into power:

- To Farmers: Hitler promised to help the farmers with their produce and to help them regain their losses during the Great Depression

- To the Unemployed: Hitler promised jobs building roads and other public structures.

- To the Middle Class: He promised to dispose of the Communists and to restore profits to small businesses that had been struck by the Great Depression. He also promised to stop strikes and inflation.

- To all Germans: Hitler promised to destroy the Treaty of Versailles and restore the people’s honour.
