Sure.  Easy peasy.  Get a law degree and sue people.

Some do through investments but it's not the most likely specialty for getting rich.

Many of them become president of universities and have the ability to write their own ticket in terms of compensatory salary.

If they can get themselves a job as a consultant or expert witness,

or curator at a top museum, amenity body or institution, possibly

but they would need a doctorate.  All the people I know who are historians

don't do it for the money. Many graduates go into unrelated professions.

If you happen to have the talent of a Ron Chernow, Walter Isaaacson or Doris Kearns Goodwin, yes.

How far does the history major go with education?  A Master's Degree?  A PhD?

If the history major has a PhD, he/she could get rich- depending upon where he/she is teaching or researching.   If one has a history degree, one can go on for a law degree or a library degree.   The law degree will garner more money.  The library degree will  open up avenues to library work, curating at a museum, etc.

He/she won't get super rich, but could earn a decent living.

How do I know? I have a Masters Degree in American History and a Masters Degree in Library Science.  I am not rich by any means, but I'm happy and I have money in the bank.  I hope to retire this year or the next.

It's rare, but if they write best-selling books, yes. It is not as guaranteed a path to financial success as software engineering or accounting.

Well I was one, and I later earned a PhD in the field.

You can major in anything and eventually get rich, depending on what you do with your life.  I became an academic, and while I'm not "rich," I am financially comfortable. In fact, until I took semi-retirement, I made more money than my husband did.

Most people do not work in the field in which they majored, and there are graduate programs that don't require a specific major.  A history major could go to law or even medical school, or earn an MBA, and make a lot of money that way.  I know one who writes novels and has done quite well with them.  I know another who teaches history on the high school level but made some smart investments back in the 1980s and really IS rich.

You could start a business or invent something and get rich that way.  Being a history major does not confine you to history as a way to make a living, though I, personally, have found the field very fulfilling.

They can, yes,, although the average salary for a bachelor's degree in history is around $60,000 a year,,, so if you're going for it go for the master's or doctorate degrees.
