I always had a feeling it was Johnson who arranged the killing of JFK, possibly even hiring Oswald. From what I recall reading in various accounts of the assassination, several facts point to Johnson.

1) He wanted to be president and was beaten by JFK earlier. He was JFK's political antagonist years before JFK became president. He was envious and angry towards him.

2) JFK was killed in Texas, Johnson's home state. Johnson would have had many high standing supporters in the state that would have brought Johnson to power. Corporations in Texas would have paid off the police to prevent Oswald from getting caught going up the building with his rifle where he shot JFK. Johnson must have promised the corporation leaders huge financial benefits once he became president.

3) Oswald's own assassination soon after the JFK killing. This was done to shut him up so that he wouldn't leak the fact that he might have been working under Johnson's influence.

4) Johnson shed no tears during his inauguration ceremony. He didn't look a bit shocked or upset about having gotten the presidency, which had eluded him before, in such tragic circumstances. Was he just being tough about it? Showing courage? Or was he just on to the whole plan all the time and therefore showed no emotion to JFK's killing? Very sketchy behaviour.

These are just the most basic facts I find might point to Johnson being responsible (along with other groups like the Mafia) for assassinating JFK. After all, Johnson did become president because of this event, which was his biggest ambition in life. Ironically, he ended up not running for reelection because he was unable to stop the Vietnam fiasco that began with JFK! Poetic justice from the ghost of JFK, I think.

No, LBJ could not have killed JFK. Positioning was all wrong for that.

Could he have had someone else do it? Not likely, LBJ was a consummate politician and would have know what a bag of monkeys that would have opened had it ever been found out. And the think about government conspiracies, is that they almost always get found out.

Reasons to? Sure, on a personal level, the Kennedy's treated him fairly shabbily. VPs generally don't get much respect, but that is generally from the public, not from the people you helped to get into office. On a professional level, it would have allowed him to get the top slot and enact reforms that he had been thinking of. Generally speaking both of which make for motive, but not exactly the strongest of motives.

On the eve of the assassination there was a party at Clif Murchison's villa. A lot of prominent people were there including J Edgar Hoover and LBJ's mistress - Madeline Duncan Brown. LBJ told her privately "after tomorrow those damned Kennedys will never embarrass me again".

I don't believe LBJ planned it but I believe he was aware of the plot and logically, as future president, had to have given his approval to the plan. At the time the CIA was working closely with the mafia. JFK only won the 1960 election because the mafia had used underhand means to swing the election in JFK's favour. Once in office, the Kennedys began an intense campaign against organised crime (the mafia). the mafia saw this as a betrayal. Sam Giancana (head of the Chicago mob) was under intense surveillance from 'G men' and wanted the Kennedys off his back.

The CIA felt is had been betrayed by JFK over his failure to adequately support the bay of pigs invasion of Cuba and JFK made no secret of his plan to fragment or 'subdivide' the CIA. There lies the seeds of a plan to kill JFK.

The mafia could not do it all as they did not have the means to execute the cover up. The CIA probably did not do the actual dirty work (the shooting) to avoid being implicated and getting their hands dirty.

For many years LBJ had a hitman called Malcolm Wallace. Wallace had killed for LBJ as far back as 1951 and LBJ had used his influence to get Wallace out of jail with a suspended sentence.

A single fingerprint found on one of the boxes at the so called 'sniper's nest' at the book depository remained unidentified for a long time until it was compared against the known prints of Malcolm 'Mac' Wallace. A print examiner with 50 years experience positively identified it as being Malcolm wallace's.

LBJ's motives are that firstly he had an intense dislike of the Kennedys, he also knew that unless JFK was removed the likelyhood was that he would never be president. JFK planned to drop LBJ as vice president and it's possible that LBJ knew that. LBJ had a very shady past with implication in murder. he knew that once he was dropped as vice president there was a distict possibility of him being investigated for murder or conspiracy to murder.

LBJ certainly gave approval to the plan and thereby was involved in conspiracy to the murder.

He would have liked to, but he didn't. Kennedy and Johnson hated each other. Kennedy chose him as Vice President in order to keep from having to fight with him in the congress. Johnson knew Kennedy for what he really was, a weak immoral rich punk kid, and he hated Kennedy. If anything happened to Kennedy, they He, Johnson, would become the President. He also knew that Kennedy's "heroics" during WWII were all a put up job. With all of that, he still didn't Kill Kennedy, or have part in the assassination. I am not saying that Johnson had any more morals than any other Democrat, just that he wasn't in on the murder.
