Okay basically when I was younger my granddad used to tell me all these stories of his travels and stuff, and one he would always tell me about was him and this man found a key and it would open a box, Now he told me where this box is but I have forgotten, BUT he never told me what's inside it.

Okay just before he died he gave me a key and told me to look after it, Which I have done, but over the years iv grown up just thinking this whole story and all the other stories he told me were tales he had made up to entertain me. So I carried on with my life until me friend saw my key on my necklace and asked me about it, After that we went to see this man who is "an expert on keys" apparently. I showed him my key and he said "Its just an ordinary key" which i have belied all along, But as we was leaving he came out with a hammer and smashed the windows on my friends car and tried to get the key from me, people came over and pinned him down and now he is in jail, we haven't told any one about the key I have, and we said to the police we didn't know why he has attacked us, we dont know if he told them about the key or not.

Now basically straight to the question, Does anyone know about any "old unopened boxes" that are in the uk? I know that its about the size of a shoe box and its made of steel or some sort of metal and when he saw it no one had been able to open it, apart from that I have no other leads, Iv searched google which hasn't helped. After everything that has happened iv been starting to believe that this key does open something important, what's in this thing i have no idea but i wouldn't mind trying to find it. So yea, If anyone knows of any boxes thanks.

Check any books that have pictures of keys(antique buyer and seller guides). I know a little bit about keys and could possibly track it down if I saw a picture of the key. Try describing the key if you have no way to take a photo of it. You could try and see if the police who arrested the guy who smashed the windows of your friend's car have any statements he made on the key having to do with him smashing your friend's windows.

a steel box about the size of a shoe box is an exact description of a bank safety deposit box; if grandad had something important he would have put it in the bank.

SO there's your starting point....where did he live? What banks are in the area? any of them have safety deposit boxes....usually a whole bunch in a special room in the vault?

You probably wont get a bank to answer the question " Hey do you have a box belonging to _________ which hasn't been opened in years 'cause he's dead?" You will have to talk to whatever lawyer handled the details of your grandad's passing........who ever inherited the estate would be the owner of the box, etc etc....

but its an interesting mystery, especially the part about the key guy trying to snatch the key from you

Here is a suggestion for you: Go to a hypnotist -- a legitimate one who uses hypnosis to help sick people -- and ask them to hypnotize you and then ask you what your Grandpa said about the key.

I know this sounds crazy, but it really works. I was hypnotized by a friend one time, just for fun, and to test the effectiveness of the hypnosis, he said, "Tell me what you did on your trip to New York in.......(A date 20 years ago.)

To me, it was if a veil had been drawn back, and I _SAW_ the visit to NY, down to the most tiny and insignificant detail.

Really I could not have done that if my life depended on it. No, I wasn't asleep -- I felt perfectly normal, not drowsy or anything. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

Good luck with your key quest -- I'll bet your will find something interesting.
