The Boston Tea Party was a protest the Patriots did because of a really high tax on tea and other items. I think the Stamp Act is where England raised taxes on stamps and other paper products, I'm not sure though. I know they weren't too happy about the Boston Massacre.
The colonies didn't like being ruled by a king that was across the ocean.

Unfair taxes, lack of representation, lack of respect, overbearing soldiers, also, before the revolution, England was occupied by other matters and the colonists became accustomed to freedom and self rule. After the war with the french and the indians, england turned there attention back to the colonies and sent soldiers and tax collectors. The colonists had become accustumed to self rule and resented this intrusion. Stamp act, boston tea party, boston massacre, the pamplet that urged freedom.
