It's extremely unlikely that there will be another world war on the scale of the last two.

Certainly not between the major powers directly because despite decommissioning they still have enough power to blow up the world.

The biggest danger I think would come from a rogue country like Iran perhaps against Israel or less likely between India and pakistan.

If that happened, just like the first two world wars the major powers could get dragged in through various treaties then it would be good by world hello Armageddon.

will there be world war III?

if yes then who might fight against who? and what might be cause.

When it might start?or did it start already.I am just curious .My opinion is that the big powers USA,Russia.China know that there will be no winners. The fear of a nuclear war exists since 60 years.Nothing has happened. The danger is a regional nuclear war Israel,Iran,North Korea, Pakistan,India .I am confident that the world will find a way to avoid WW3.There always will be some non- nuclear regional conflicts.Economy is the most important thing for people on earth-----------------------World War III (also WWIII, or Third World War) denotes a successor to World War II (1939–1945) that would be on a global scale, with common speculation that it would likely be nuclear and devastating in nature.[1]

This war was anticipated and planned for by military and civil authorities, and explored in fiction in many countries. Concepts ranged from limited use of atomic weapons, to destruction of the planet.

In a 2006 interview, US President George W. Bush labeled the ongoing War on Terror as "World War III".[2]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_III 2000s: Concern over terrorism

After the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, a scenario of World War III beginning as a result of a nuclear or other catastrophic terrorist attack became prominent. Terrorism in the form of nuclear, chemical, or biological attacks now occupy the place in popular culture once held by the vision of a nuclear World War III between world powers.[6]

Paramount Pictures released a film adaptation of Tom Clancy's The Sum of All Fears in 2002. The production of the film began before 9/11, and was originally intended as an escapist thriller where CIA analyst Jack Ryan fights neo-Nazis who conspire to detonate a nuclear weapon at a football game to start a nuclear war between Russia and the US. However, the film’s release just seven months after 9/11 made it very topical. Phil Alden Robinson, the film's director, commented that "a year ago, you'd have said, 'great popcorn film,'...Today you say, 'that's about the world I live in.'" There was an aggressive promotional campaign, with movie trailers and television commercials showing the nuclear destruction of a city and a special premier for politicians in Washington DC. The Sum of All Fears was Paramount Pictures most profitable film of 2002.[6]

Recently, World War 3 has also become the topic of several popular video games, reflecting the trend towards increased public consciousness of the possibility of a future global war. Games such as Tom Clancy's EndWar and Frontlines: Fuel of War, paint scenarios about a Third World War driven by the need for resources on the part of the various combatants. Other games such as World In Conflict, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty or the Fallout series take place in alternate histories where global war is a reality.

yeah probably

but i am sure it is a long way from now

probably a few centuries or even more

you will understand why i said when u read Einstein's quote

"We don't know what World War 1 and World War 2 will be fought with, but we do know that World War 3 will be fought with sticks and stones."

what he is saying is that we are moving ahead in technology, but will soon start a recession and lose everything.

No one can tell you exactly if there's going to be a third world war or not. But all the things that are happening now are just leading to destroying the world. All the nuclear bombs, etc. And believe me, if and when the W.W.III will break out, it will be the end of human life on earth.

World War III is very possible. In 2006, President Bush referred to the War on Terror as WWIII. It was thought that the Cold War could have lead to WWIII had it escalated. Many post-WWII conflicts, such as the Korean War, and Vietnam War could have lead to WWIII

Yes, I think this Iraqi War could go down as WWIII. If not, war is never going to stop in this world, so there will be. If you knew your basic history, you would know. Humans are too dumb to solve problems in a better way.

I think if countries like Iran and North Korea or other unstable countries like that launch nuclear bombs on are allies or on us then it is very likely that we will go into wwIII.

It is very possible. No one can really tell.

" i know not with what weapons, or on which battlefield WW3 will be fought. But WW4 will be fought with sticks and stones, amidst ruins and destruction. "

it's already begun when you think about it...The War on Terrorism...its a war played on a global scale...Even the man who started it called it WWIII ...
2009-03-08 18:31:27 UTC
I think you will find it began around 1950 and is still going on.

As long as NATO is in operation, war will always be on the horizon.

The Sun runs out of fuel in 5 billion years time, so if we manage to avoid poisoning our planet then we have that long to destroy ourselves ... er ourselves.

It's not a case of "will there" but more like "when". I don't think it'll be in our lifetime though.
